He’s been deconstructed, demonized and all but demolished - as a person, scientist, physician and icon. But is he really destroyed, or just a bit downtrodden, down and out, waiting to be dusted off and redeemed? Not for his genius and gifted literary skills and preparedness to stubbornly think the unthinkable — even where someone else had thought it first — nor for his unforgettable contribution to our language. But because of what he may still have to offer us in understanding of ourselves and others.
